Elmwood Park is a borough in Bergen County with a population of nearly 20,000 residents. The borough is located in the southwestern corner of Bergen County, less than 10 miles from New York City. The community is bisected by routes 4 and 46, as well as the Garden State Parkway and Interstate 80, making commuting by car relatively simple. Elmwood Park has a mix of single-family residential housing along with condominiums, light commercial and warehouse space. Elmwood Park is an urban and suburban mix of medium to high-density development. Elmwood Park has recently renovated its already thriving business community with the renovation of the Elmwood Shopping Center located on route 4 (Broadway). The Elmwood Park Public Schools serve students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. There are three K-5 elementary schools: Gantner Avenue School, Gilbert Avenue School, and Sixteenth Avenue School. Memorial Middle School serves grades six through eight, while Elmwood Park Memorial High School serves students in grades nine through twelve.
