Among the 566 municipalities throughout New Jersey, Ridgewood is one of only four villages in New Jersey, joining Loch Arbour, Ridgefield Park and South Orange. With a population of approximately 25,000 people, the Village of Ridgewood boasts excellent schools, extensive recreational programs and beautiful parks, as well as a variety of real estate choices.

Residents of Ridgewood enjoy the many shopping, dining and recreational options offered throughout Bergen County, as well as the borough’s close proximity to the world-renowned cultural and entertainment activities in nearby New York City. Ridgewood is conveniently located in close proximity to many major roadways and offers public transportation by bus or train to New York City and beyond.

Ridgewood has an interesting history and culture, and residents and visitors alike enjoy its many shops, dining and entertainment options. Notable residents of Ridgewood have included Johnny Damon, a Major League Centerfielder for the New York Yankees, and Jay Freely Kicker, a member of the New York Giants.

The Village of Ridgewood Public School system is comprised of nine public schools and one additional school facility, which houses a pre-school program and a private day care center. The village is home to one pre-school, six elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.
