With a population of approximately 18,000 residents, Rutherford is located just eight miles west of New York City, and centrally located to many major roadways, transporation systems. The borough offers excellent schools, dining and shopping options and recreational activities year-round.
 
Rutherford's downtown district offers a variety of activities, including fine and casual dining, two three-star restaurants, shops, stores and numerous nightlife activities. Also located downtown is the Williams Center for the Arts, which contains three movie theaters and a 700-seat concert hall that features both children’s theater and other performing arts. 

Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the Nereid Boat Club, which is located on the Passaic River, and is one of the New York City area's only calm water rowing sites. The Boat Club is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the healthy sport of rowing on all levels. Rutherford offers numerous other recreational activities, including organized sports and activities for both children and adults, which are offered year-round.
 
Rutherford boasts a strong school public system. Students in grades one through five attend Lincoln, Sylvan or Washington Schools; students in grades one through eight attend either Pierrepont or Union Schools; and high school students attend Rutherford High School. The Rutherford school district has traditionally been recognized as a leader in academic excellence. 

With extensive recreational and entertainment options, a large variety of homes for sale and property types to offer, not to mention the city’s close proximity to New York City, it is not surprising that Rutherford real estate attracts buyers and renters from across the county and around the state.
