With a population of roughly 35,000 residents, Belleville is located approximately twenty miles from New York City, an hour from the beautiful Jersey Shore and covers 3.2 square miles of the Northeast corner of Essex County, NJ. Belleville is located near many major roadways and offers an extensive transportation system. Belleville also offers a variety of dining selections and recreational activities year-round.

Residents who enjoy the outdoors can spend the day golfing at Hendricks Field Golf Course or walking or kayaking through the gardens at Essex County's oldest county park, Branch Brook Park, a habitat for the world famous Japanese flowering cherry trees. Belleville offers numerous other recreational activities, including organized sports and activities for children and adults year round.
 
Often referred to as the Cherry Blossom Capital of America, Belleville is a favorite spot for admiring the scenery when the trees bloom in the spring. The Township is also the hometown of the band My Chemical Romance. Gerard Way, singer for the band, and his brother, Mikey Way both attended Belleville High School. 

Belleville is conveniently located near many major roadways, including Routes 21 and 95 and the New Jersey Turnpike, which all allow fast and easy access to the rest of Essex County and beyond.
 
The Belleville Public School System educates students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Children in kindergarten through sixth grade attend one of seven public elementary schools. Belleview Middle School serves students in grades seven and eight and Belleville High School serves students in grades nine through twelve.
