Essex County is located in the northeastern part of New Jersey and is the second most populated county in the state with a population of 800,000 residents. It is also part of the New York Metropolitan Area, and provides sufficient transportation options for its residents in terms of trains and buses to get to and from New York. Essex County was originally established as one of the four administrative districts in eastern New Jersey in 1675 and was then formed as a county in 1683. It is also a predominantly Democratic county with 22 municipalities. It was also the first county in the United States to have its own parks department, which currently has 22 parks. There are a variety of restaurants, shopping, and cultural and recreational activities located throughout the county. These activities coupled with the extensive park system and reliable public transportation network truly make Essex County a great place to buy or rent real estate in New Jersey.
