With a population of approximately 6,000 residents, Fair Haven, New Jersey offers its residents a strong school system, an excellent location and a historically rich culture. Many residents commute to New York City and Philadelphia, as well as to Jersey City and Fort Lee, rapidly developing cities with many luxury condos and high-rise apartments for sale and rent. Fair Haven is a charming town located on the Navesink River. The town’s historic district is located around River Road, as are many unique shops and boutiques and prime commercial properties. Residents of Fair Haven often head to nearby Red Bank, which has many beautiful Victorian homes for sale, to enjoy world class dining and entertainment.
Nature enthusiasts enjoy the 40-acre Fair Haven Fields Nature Area, which offers playing fields, trails and a two-acre pond. Many of the town’s neighborhoods have beautiful old homes, as well as many newer contemporary homes that have been built in recent years. Many of the town’s residents commute to New York City, which is accessible by train or ferry.
Fair Haven has a rich and interesting history, and is believed to have been used by Native Americans long before European settlers arrived in the middle of the 1600’s. Fisk Chapel, which was constructed in 1888, served as the community's church and social center at the time. Today, the building is used as a Borough meeting hall and is listed on the National Register of Historical Places.
The public school system in Fair Haven is comprised of two schools. Students in pre-kindergarten through third grade attend the Viola L. Sickles School and students in grades four through eight attend the Knollwood School. High school students attend Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, which is located in Rumson and also serves that town’s students.
With such a large variety of New Jersey homes for sale and property types to offer, not to mention the town’s convenient proximity to New York City, the Jersey Shore and Philadelphia, it is not surprising that Fair Haven real estate attracts buyers and renters from around the region.
