Commuters from neighboring towns and boroughs such as Red Bank and Rumson, which have many homes, apartments and condos for sale and rent, also utilize this convenient ferry system that offers comfortable vessels with indoor and outdoor seating, full service bar and restrooms.

The public school system in Highlands is comprised one elementary school and one high school. Students in kindergarten through sixth grade attend Highlands Elementary School and Henry Hudson Regional High School serves students in grades seven through twelve. The high school is part of the regional public school district that serves students from both Highlands and Atlantic Highlands.
