Located in Western Monmouth County, Manalapan Township is 45 miles southwest of New York City and just 15 miles from the Jersey Shore. Manalapan’s schools include three primary schools, Clark Mills, Milford Brook and Taylor Mills, three schools serving grades four through six, Lafayette Mills, Pine Brook and Wemrock, and one middle school, Manalapan-Englishtown Middle School serving grades seven through eight. Depending on their home address, high school students attend either Manalapan High School or Freehold Township High School, with some students attending the prestigious Science and Engineering Specialized Learning Center for gifted students.

Manalapan offers many recreational and social activities for both adults and children. Residents of many ages play organized sports teams, including soccer, tennis, basketball and baseball. The town is home to two famous athletes: David DeJesus of the Kansas City Royals and Jason Bergmann of the Washington Nationals. The town is also located near the famous Six Flags Great Adventure located in Jackson Township, New Jersey.

Historically, Manalapan has an interesting and rich past. It shares the distinction with Freehold Township as the site of the well-known Battle of Monmouth, which is regarded as the end of the War of Independence.
