Union Township has an interesting history and there are many facts and trivia about the area. In the 18th Century, the area that is now called Union was called Connecticut Farms. This small farming village was the site of a Revolutionary War battle that took place on June 7, 1780. Union is home to what was once the tallest watersphere in the world and is also home to several homes that are made entirely of concrete. The homes were an experiment of Thomas Edison, and include poured concrete interior walls with formed concrete plumbing. Numerous actors and actresses have lived in Union, including Artie Lange, Ray Liotta and Robert Wuhl.

The Union Public School system is extensive and serves students in preschool through twelfth grade. The system is comprised of ten schools and includes six elementary schools, which serve students in kindergarten through grade four: Battle Hill School, Connecticut Farms Elementary School, Franklin School, Hannah Caldwell School, Livington School and Washington School. All students in grade five attend Central Five-Jefferson School. Students in grades six through eight attend either Burnet Middle School or Kawameeh Middle School and high school students attend Union High School.

With extensive recreational and entertainment options, a large variety of homes for sale and property types to offer, not to mention the city’s close proximity to New York City, Union real estate attracts buyers and renters from across the county and around the state.
